10 of the Best Mountains to Climb on Earth

If you want to get up close and personal with nature, there's no better way than hiking a mountain. And if you're looking for the most memorable mountains in the world, we've got your back. From Kilimanjaro to Everest (and everything in between), here are ten of the most popular mountains that will keep you on your toes:

Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and one of the most famous mountains on Earth. It is a dormant volcano that rises from the floor of Africa to the roof of the world at 5,895 m (19,341 ft). Kilimanjaro can be climbed without technical equipment by those who are physically fit enough to make it to its peak safely. If you're interested in climbing Kilimanjaro but don't have time or money for a guided program—or even if you do—there are plenty of ways to get yourself up there without all that gear!

Everest

Everest is the highest mountain in the world, located in Nepal and Tibet. It stands 29,029 feet tall and was first climbed by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on May 29th, 1953. To put this into perspective, if you were standing on top of Everest today it would be like standing at a distance of 833 meters from where you are now (which is roughly the height of an office building).

Fuji

Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan, and it's also one of the most iconic mountains on Earth. It's a stratovolcano, which means that Fuji has two main layers: an "a" layer (or ash layer) and an "m" layer (or lava flow). The volcano itself was formed by long-dormant eruptions that began around 1707 CE.

Fuji is actually considered to be part of Mount Fuji Group because they're all volcanoes located near Tokyo Bay—you can see them from your backyard!

Denali

Denali is the highest peak in North America and also the third most prominent mountain on earth. It's located in Alaska, which means you'll have to spend time there if you want to climb it. The name of this mountain comes from its Koyukon Athabascan name, which means "the high one."

The first recorded ascent of Denali occurred in 1913 by a team led by Frederick Cook. Since then, thousands of people have climbed Denali—but only about 20% survive their attempt!

Aconcagua

Aconcagua is the tallest mountain in the world outside of Asia and South America, at 6962 meters above sea level. It's also known as "The southernmost 6962 meters peak on Earth."

Aconcagua is the highest peak in both Argentina and Chile, but it's only one of three peaks on this list that are considered part of one country's territory. The other two are Mount Everest (China) and Kilimanjaro (Tanzania).

It was first climbed by Swedish explorer Oscar Berninghausen who reached its summit in 1890 during an expedition led by Eduard Imboden; he became the first to ascend all 14 major peaks over 8000m high along with Aconcagua itself!

K2

K2, the second highest mountain on Earth and located in the Karakoram Range in Pakistan and China, is considered to be one of the most dangerous mountains in the world. The mountain was first climbed by a British expedition led by Captain C.T. Atkinson in 1898. They reached its summit but did not attempt to descend because they were afraid that their guide would die from exposure or snow blindness as well as being afraid of falling into an ice crevasse at high altitude (which can happen at any time). In fact, there have been several tragedies on this climb over time—even famous mountaineers such as Reinhold Messner have died while attempting it!

K2 is also known by locals as "The Savage Mountain," which refers both to its reputation for being dangerous but also for its beauty: It has some of the most impressive peaks anywhere near glaciers and steep cliffs; many climbers say their experience here rivals any other area on Earth!

Rainier

Rainier is the highest mountain in the Cascade Range, located in Washington State. It's also a volcano and one of the most popular mountains for climbers to conquer because it's an easy climb with lots of great views on top. However, Rainier can be dangerous if you're not prepared or experienced enough to safely make your way up its slopes (and even more so if you try to do it alone).

In addition to being a great climb for experienced climbers, Rainier offers plenty of other amenities—such as camping spots and hiking trails—that make it one of our favorite places to visit when we want some peace and quiet away from our busy lives back home!

McKinley

McKinley is the highest mountain in North America and the tallest non-volcano peak on Earth. It rises to 19,000 feet above sea level, making it a challenge to climb even with modern equipment. The ascent requires an 8-mile hike over glacier fields and snowfields—and it’s not for the faint of heart.

McKinley was named after President William McKinley, who led the nation through its greatest territorial expansion during his term as president (1897–1901). Because he was often ill during those years, this fact may have played into his nickname: “The Good Fellows” or “The Buffalo Bulldog” referring both to his temperament as well as his physical strength; some have speculated that he had been using steroids before becoming president because he needed them to survive such long periods at altitude without supplemental oxygen tanks or other equipment necessary for such high altitudes

Ama Dablam

The Ama Dablam is a mountain located in the Himalayas at 6,856 meters above sea level. It's one of the highest peaks in Nepal and is also considered sacred by the Sherpa people. The mountain has been climbed by many climbers, including Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay (the first man to climb Everest) who climbed it on May 28th, 1953; they reached its summit after four hours of climbing.

The Ama Dablam is located in Central Nepal near Mount Kanchenjunga which is another famous climbing destination for climbers who want to climb some more difficult peaks like Ama Dablam or Everest itself!

Mont Blanc

Mont Blanc is a mountain in the French Alps, located between France and Italy. It is one of the tallest mountains in Europe and its summit rises to 4,810 meters (15,771 feet).

Mont Blanc can be climbed from either side but it's most popular during the summer months when there are fewer restrictions on climbing it. The easiest way to climb Mont Blanc is by taking the Aiguille Du Midi route which involves walking along a ridge for about two hours before reaching Mont Blanc’s summit. This will put you at 8042 meters above sea level when you reach the top or vice versa if you plan on descending first and then climbing back up again later on when weather conditions allow for easier access through crevasses!

The best time frame would probably be between June and September since this is when most people go trekking around these parts so they'll have better access to camping sites etcetera...
